These two styles of spirits have many similar philosophies, including the importance of source and the maturation climate. This understanding birthed a project to marry Scotch Whisky and Brandy from Burgundy. First, water; as with vineyards in Brandy from Burgundy, the water source is a fundamental factor in the profile of Scotch Whisky. Philippe sought to partner with a distillery that crafted a whisky that would blend well with his casks and came upon Tullibardine in the Highland area. The distillery started as a brewery in the 15th Century due to its revered water source from the Ochil Hills, which takes 15 years to reach the final resting point. This pristine water, paired with the distillery’s clean, non-peated style of Highland whisky, seemed an ideal complement to Philippe’s vision. After many tastings, Philippe sent some of Jacoulot’s Marc barrels to Scotland in which to finish a particular blend of whisky casks of a similar age. Borne from this exploration of Scotch Whisky, this single malt from Tullibardine in the Scottish Highlands spends ten years maturing in a selection of ex-Bourbon casks chosen by Jacoulot, followed by an additional three years finishing in Jacoulot’s French oak barrels, previously used to age their signature Marc de Bourgogne. Each release is extremely limited, with hand numbered and signed bottles. Boisterous fruit and esters burst off the nose with vibrant oxidation and notes of rich, nutty marzipan from the plum pits. The palate is deep and oaky, full of raisins and-you guessed it-prunes. Curious and delicious! A gem for all spirit geeks. 42% ABVSince the late nineteenth century, the members of the Roque family have carried on, from father to son, the tradition of distilling. In 1905, Louis, the third of five generations, decided to start his own distillery in Souillac on the site of an ancient convent. Souillac is in the heart of the Quercy, not far from the Cahors wine appellation, an area rich in gastronomic delights such as black truffles, walnuts, and plums. Louis Roque became the local specialist of plum brandy. He kept his production in oak casks where the spirit aged slowly, under his close supervision. In 1995, the company, now under the direction of the fifth generation, built new aging cellars in Souillac, and the name Louis Roque is firmly established as the highest standard in this sublime and undersung spirit category.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Skurnik","offers":[{"title":"750","offer_id":49918072979742,"sku":"12107120","price":52.98,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0931\/2505\/0654\/files\/1065806x.jpg?v=1757769521"}],"url":"https:\/\/cree-wine.myshopify.com\/collections\/brandy.oembed","provider":"Cree Wine","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
