Don’t miss this perfect winter red, a terrific petite Châteaux from the right bank region of the Côtes de Bordeaux. It’s a blend of 75% Merlot, which brings a soft, ripe core of succulent red fruits, bolstered by 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc which bring depth, structure and complexity to the wine. Vines are 30-35 years old with deep roots that bring depth and concentration from the classic clay, limestone and gravel soils. Dark cassis and red fruits lead off, followed by a lovely plush middle palate with ample soft tannins and lovely cassis fruit in the middle, long and lingering on the finish.
Classy and delicious, especially at this price, open it an hour ahead of time, or better yet decant it to let this amazing over-achieving wine open up to its fullest. Drink now and for the next 5-8 years.
91 Points, James Suckling - “This offers bright and ripe dark berries and plums with a smooth, dark-stone edge, continuing into the palate that offers a succulent and supple array of rich, plush tannins and ample flavor. A blend of 75 percent merlot, 15 per cent cabernet sauvignon and ten per cent cabernet franc. Try from 2021.”
