Benjamin Romeo Contador Alma 2022

We just received a limited number of six packs (original wood) of this newest release from Benjamin Romeo, one of Spain's most highly regarded winemakers. The Alma cuvée is named after his 6-year-old daughter, Alma.

It is made from three plots located in the high, medium, and low altitudes of Benjamin’s vineyards, respectively bringing intensity, minerality, and a more gourmand profile: La Viña de Andres, El Bombón, and Diasol. It's mostly Tempranillo, providing a deep, dark core of fruit, with some Garnacha Tinta bringing freshness and elegance. Plush, ripe, and fresh, with loads of lovely dark plummy fruit, cassis, fine-grained tannins, and a long, balanced finish.

It spends 20 months in new French oak barrels from six different cooperages, adding lovely sandalwood and vanilla undertones to the wine that are very well integrated. Amazingly approachable now, this will drink great for a decade or more.
