Dominique Joseph Le Petit St.Vincent Saumur-Champigny Les Poyeux 2021

Those of you who were lucky enough to get a hold of the previous vintages of this amazing wine know that this is one offer not to be missed. If you have never had it, you absolutely owe it to yourself to try it! As Paul Harvey used to say, read on for the “rest of the story” to find out how I first came to know the wines of this special vineyard, but previous vintages of this wine have sold out almost immediately so you may want to hit the buy button first and read on afterwards! The 2021 is another beautiful expression of how great Cabernet Franc can be in this special vineyard. It’s elegant and perfumed from the get go, showing classic Cabernet Franc notes of savory dried herbs, dark cassis fruit, hints of mocha and espresso, and complex, cool, floral top notes. All this follows though on the palate with a seamless wine of complex, depth and finesse all at the same time. Tannins are fine grained and smooth, and the finish lingers for what seems like minutes. This cuvee from Dominique Joseph of exceptional Loire Valley Cabernet Franc reminds me of the first time I ever had Clos Rougeard Poyeux - simply amazing! The difference? Rougeard will now set you back from $300-$700 or more per bottle, depending on the vintage. Don’t miss out; Cheers! Chris
