99 Point Cree Wine Score - Pre-Arrival ETA August 5th
Finding top quality Cabernet at reasonable prices has become the holy grail of wine. We’ve been lucky to find a few gems - but not until after tasting and rejecting dozens!
Washington State has proven to be a great hunting ground for Cabernet bargains, and today’s offer is one of the best we’ve found!
It is from winemaker Robin Pollard, former executive director of the Washington State Wine Commission and life partner of none other than Washington State icon Chris Camarda of Andrew Will Cellars.
This release is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Robin’s 10 acre estate Pollard vineyard located in the Upper Yakima Valley, which she purchased in 2014. The vineyard, sitting at 1150 feet on a southwest facing slope in silt-loam over limestone soils. It was fermented with ambient yeasts and matured for 18-months before bottling in 20% new French oak.
The result? A delicious deep, dark Cabernet with lovely earth tinged cherry and dark fruits, moderate tannins that are ripe and
silky, and just a hint of pleasant oak that adds complexity and dimension into the long lingering finish. Hints of tobacco and savory herb, round out the nose and finish making this a truly compelling value!
Pair it with the Perryville Burger, steaks, pork or lamb chops, duck breast and more. Drink this amazing bargain now and for the next 4-6 years at least!
